Women in Construction Week: Team Member Spotlights

In honor of Women in Construction (WIC) Week, Rockford proudly celebrates the incredible women who are helping shape the future of the construction industry.

This year’s theme, “Together We Rise,” emphasizes the strength, resilience and expertise that women bring to this field.

As we join in this national celebration, we are excited to spotlight some of the talented women who inspire us every day with their hard work, leadership and dedication. Their contributions are not just vital to our success — they are shaping the industry for generations to come.

This year’s Women in Construction Week theme is “Together We Rise.” What does this mean to you?

Going back to the mentors I’ve had, I really appreciate that they helped me grow despite their own busy schedules. As I advance in my career, my motto is “Pay it forward.” Participate in micro mentorships. Be available for women in the industry. Show young men and minority men in the field how to become allies, advocates and effective communicators. Lastly, consider how we might neutralize the topics of conversation and language on jobsites to be more welcoming to all while still having fun.

What has your experience been like as a woman in construction?
My experience has only been positive as a woman in construction. I can bring my ideas to the table, and they will be heard. I feel trusted and I am an important part of a team. Every day I know I can have fun but also be productive.

What has your experience been like as a woman in construction?

I love working in the Construction field. Everyone takes pride in what they do, and it is exciting to be a part of a group working towards a common goal. I have been with Rockford for 12 years, and I believe that a trusting relationship has been formed with each person I meet and work with.

How do you think the construction industry can attract more women?

It’s crucial that women already in the industry lead by example and support other women who may be early on in their career, but men should make this a priority as well. This will help create an inclusive work environment and will undoubtedly attract and retain more women in the field.

How do you think the construction industry can attract more women?

The construction industry offers so many diverse career paths—from working on-site to roles in accounting, human resources, and business development, like me! There’s truly a place for everyone in this field.

Before I joined Rockford three years ago, I, like many others, assumed construction was solely on-site work. But a successful project relies on countless roles behind the scenes. By highlighting the wide range of opportunities available, we can help more women see themselves in this industry and encourage them to pursue a long and rewarding career in construction.
