Expanding on the transformational work that was initially completed at The Morton in 2015, Rockford partnered with AHC Hospitality on the construction of a pet-friendly hotel in the center of Grand Rapids. The Morton Hotel includes studio, 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom options with a Bauhaus design featuring simple geometric shapes and bright, vibrant colors. Each room contains a full kitchen, washer and dryer, and special accommodations for pets. All architectural drawings for the project were completed by Rockford’s in-house design team.
In addition to the guest rooms, which are located on the 10th, 11th and 12th floors, Rockford performed extensive work in the basement, fitting the building with a pet relief area that contains a 600-sq.-ft., self-irrigating lawn. The basement also includes commercial laundry equipment that had to be disassembled, craned into place, then reassembled once positioned inside. Due to the complex logistics associated with performing work on a downtown high-rise, Rockford’s Trades and Property Management teams collaborated closely with external partners – and one another – to ensure work proceeded as planned with minimal disruption to residents of The Morton.
