One of Grand Rapids’ most iconic buildings now also features one of the city’s most exciting restaurants. Rockford partnered with AHC Hospitality to reinvigorate the space previously occupied by Cygnus 27 on the Amway Grand Plaza’s 27th floor. The new restaurant, MDRD, features custom metals, an acoustical ceiling system designed to create a more comfortable experience for guests and a high-end dining room anchored by a stadium-seating concept.
In addition to the main dining area, we constructed five private dining rooms for MDRD that can be reserved for small events. Each of these rooms contains murals of Spanish neighborhoods – in keeping with the restaurant’s motif – contributed by local artist Maddie Jackson. Additional highlights include a refurbished spiral staircase and a custom tile installation consisting of more than 1,000 handmade ceramic tiles.
