Jill Devan, co-owner and operating officer, brought her SoCal roots and lifestyle with her when she moved from California to the Midwest. The result is Apothecary Off Main, which got its start in downtown Grand Rapids as part of MoDiv, a former small business incubator located in the heart of the city. As a result of plenty of early success, Apothecary Off Main moved into a larger storefront.
Apothecary Off Main features a wide variety of natural, hand-crafted products. Many are made under the Apothecary brand.
We sat down with Jill to chat about her business and her connection to the city:
What makes Apothecary Off Main different from the competition?
“We offer the newest breakout vendors specializing in small-batch, hand-crafted products. We’re always on the lookout for the best natural products that you can’t live without. We’ll never be ‘trendy,’ but we will always be the first to take a chance on up and coming local vendors.”
What’s your favorite thing about operating a business in downtown GR?
“Being a part of the community. As a resident of downtown, I have a personal connection with my customers’ wants and needs. I also love meeting new folks every day. I feel like a personal ambassador bragging about our great city!”
In addition to personal care items, Apothecary also has products for the home available, including candles, cleaners and much more.
What’s the most satisfying part about serving your customers and the community?
“Providing hand-crafted and creatively curated items for the body and mind so that our customers can live a healthy lifestyle.”
What’s on the horizon for Apothecary Off Main through the remainder of this year and beyond?
“We recently started making our own natural, hand-crafted products. We look forward to adding new items every few months to meet the needs of our customers.”
