Situated in Detroit’s East Jefferson Corridor, Rivertown Market functions as an anchor in the heart of the city for fresh, affordable and accessible food. The new market offers thousands of staple items along with more than 2,000 locally made goods. Rivertown Market is Meijer’s second small-format store in Detroit and its fourth in Michigan.
In addition to spending more than $3 million with local trade contractors in the Detroit metropolitan area, Rockford also awarded 28% of the work to diverse trades.
Through our development partnership with the City of Detroit, the surrounding Lafayette Park area was also enhanced. Improvements included restored lawns, a new irrigation system, updated pavers and sidewalks, and two large murals on the facility painted by local artists of color. Rockford is also providing property management services at Rivertown Market.
