The skyline of downtown Grand Rapids is changing thanks to Rockford Construction’s work at 430 Monroe, which includes Perrigo Company plc’s new North American Corporate Headquarters.
Perrigo occupies the top three floors of the building (63,550 sq. ft.), which sits on the edge of a narrow urban site. To accommodate Perrigo’s space needs, the top three floors of the building cantilever over an existing parking ramp, which is shared with the Doug Meijer Medical Innovation Building (DMMIB) located next door. Other tenants will fill in the bottom seven levels of the building.
The building features high-end interior finishes and was constructed on a tight schedule thanks to innovative practices, including the use of pre-fabricated wall panels to drastically speed up construction.
430 Monroe is part of the Grand Rapids Innovation Park (GRIP), a healthcare innovation hub inspiring collaboration among companies working in the biomedical, bioengineering and healthcare fields. The campus consists of Michigan State University’s existing Grand Rapids Research Center as well as the DMMIB. With many projects all taking place on the same site, Rockford teams coordinated carefully to achieve project goals and safety.
