The Grand Rapids Art Museum began its new chapter within a beautiful facility that not only provided the museum the space to expand their collection and programs but set a new standard for green building practices as the first LEED-certified art museum in the world. The museum incorporated energy-efficient lighting, heating and cooling systems, and recycling systems throughout the building in addition to utilizing natural light in public and private spaces.
Rockford teamed with Pepper Construction to provide construction management services for the 135,000 sq. ft. museum, which includes gallery and exhibition spaces, family learning center, gift shop, auditorium, and café.
