As part of their goal to have hospital-based cancer services available locally to patients, the Cancer and Hematology Center at Corewell Health Ludington Hospital was relocated to what was once the emergency department. With an additional 1,400 sq. ft. added, the new state-of-the-art facility provides lifesaving medical treatment and modern amenities as well as holistic treatment options to cancer patients.
Encompassing more than 30,000 sq. ft. total, the addition was built in four phases. The major focus of the project included the modernization of existing semi-private patient rooms into more than 30 private patient rooms, each featuring their own bathrooms and showers. The cancer center was relocated to a new area within the building. An outdoor healing garden addition allows patients time outdoors in a carefully curated space. A new sloped roof penthouse was installed over an existing flat roof, completed while the building is operational. The increased space of the facility invites family members to be present while patients receive treatment. The full scope of the project is expected to wrap up in late 2024.
