Consumers Energy

Employment Development Center

Located along the Grand River in downtown Grand Rapids, the Consumers Energy John G. Russell Leadership Center opened Spring 2017. The 65,000-sq.-ft. facility houses various classrooms, conference rooms and collaborative meeting spaces used for professional development and leadership training for Consumers employees.

Rockford successfully navigated the tight site on Grand Valley State University’s campus, making significant ground improvements and using CMC foundations to support the building. The facility features a glass facade, utilizes reclaimed wood throughout the interior, and operates using complex building controls—it is LEED Silver. The Leadership Center is part of a collaboration between Consumers Energy and Grand Valley State University.
