Calvin University’s Covenant Fine Arts Center’s (CFAC) renovation transformed the center to be as eye-catching and aesthetically pleasing as the artwork within it. The renovation included a facelift to the exterior of the building around the expanded east lobby, including new windows and arches that provide an impressive view of the university and CFAC to passers-by. The center’s main auditorium received new HVAC and lighting, fabrics, and hand-crafted acoustical panels.
A notable feature of the renovation is the 40,000 sq. ft. addition that houses a new art gallery and 240-seat recital hall. The recital hall is a work of art, with beautiful wood panels hand-crafted by Rockford General Trades. Like for any masterful piece of work, constructing the hall required exceptional attention to detail. Throughout the project, Rockford had at least six and sometimes 15 quality carpenters on site to create the acoustic panels in the recital hall.
