The Corewell Health Center for Transformation and Innovation will be the new central home for the thousands of office staff who help one of Michigan’s major health system providers run their wide array of medical facilities throughout the region. The office hub will include more than 300,000 sq. ft. of space over eight floors, as well as parking decks and a two-level connector bridge to a renovated four-story office building. The new campus will also include an on-site fitness facility and a large event space, as well as a pavilion dedicated to gathered learning.
The new building replaces an old one with massive solid concrete foundations. Rockford’s team saw an opportunity for reuse, crushing and repurposing more than 20,000 tons of the old concrete for the new building and parking decks. This reduced overall material, landfill waste and trucking miles – all of which are good for the environment.
