The GRPS Museum School creates an interactive learning environment within the Grand Rapids Public Museum as a collaboration between Grand Rapids Public Schools (GRPS), the Museum, and a number of higher education institutions in the area. The curriculum for the school is project-based and all of the traditional learning is integrated into the projects. The project involved the design and construction of academic space serving grades 6-8 which consists of six, state-of-the-art classrooms. A large, centrally-located collaboration space is also featured, along with a cantilevered staircase, connecting the third and fourth floors. Administrative offices and a conference room is also included in the project for Museum and GRPS staff.
