Baker Lofts

Bringing historic and modern elements together to create affordable, urban housing.

Housing is the foundation of a great city, but diversity in housing options is almost as important as the housing itself. LC Companies, a developer known for more than 20 affordable housing developments throughout Michigan, understands that the key to urban growth is providing high quality, lower cost housing options. The former Baker Furniture warehouse is a newly-renovated LC Companies development.

The 100-year-old factory stands in a part of downtown Grand Rapids’ expanding southern boundary and an area of much recent revitalization. LC Companies and Rockford transformed the five-story, 125,000 sq. ft. building into 87 residential units, with a main floor leasing office, workout facility, community room, and retail space. Bringing historic and modern elements together, Baker Lofts features exposed brick walls, poured concrete floors, original wooden ceilings, and an earth-tone color scheme. The LEED facility provides energy efficiency, lower operating costs, and healthier living for its residents.
